This is my Satin Nicole. She was one of my students and in foster care. I adopted her in 2013. She has Down syndrome and a little over a year ago started having seizures. She is doing much better on seizure medications. She is my world and everything. When I made the decision to become her mom it was forever no matter what challenges came about.
My 16 year old son threw 6 of us around like rag dolls at his last well child visit when we tried to do his vaccinations. Freaking out, screaming the entire time. We get done, and he apologizes to everyone in the room and tells them thank you. Some people are ill equipped to weather the storm for the calm that comes after. Her loss. Hopefully huxley’s gain.
I wish the focus on this story included the other parent (adoptive father) as well as the adoptive mother.
He had a voice, opinion & complicity in this child’s life, care & ultimate future which ended with his “replacement” into yet another family.
I think the blame & concern & attention should be falling on BOTH parents…who failed this boy.
